Pour un élevage viable et reconnu dans les territoires urbanisés de l’Ouest : partager l’espace et construire la légitimité

Abstract : In western France, the combination of intensive agriculture and dense and polycentric urbanisation generates major questions. How to share the land when demand is high on all sides? How can we avoid the clash between agricultural sensitivity and urban sensitivity in relation to livestock? How can we leverage the contributions of agriculture to urban dynamics (landscapes, food cultures, etc.) and involve cities alongside their agriculture? Having characterized the main terms of the equation, the paper seeks to promote the possible solutions: to save and enhance a land in rarefication, developing social skills that enable multifunctionality, integrating agriculture as an essential component of urban projects (Structure and Local Plans for example). On the basis of the research methodologies, it reminds that pragmatic approaches are to be preferred: to approach urbanisation by the field and from the farms; to identify and care for the agri-urban interfaces ; to build territorial dialogue between peri-urban farmers and cities.
