L’EPS au prisme des disciplines : Polysémie et pluralité de l’interdisciplinarité (1981‑2015)

Abstract : Interdisciplinarity, pluri-disciplinarity, transdisciplinarity”: three different notions now very fashionable in school environments and often used with little discrimination by teachers. If contemporary reforms are placing these ideas at the heart of the various debates, the perception of disciplinary intersections is not only old, but also very varied. Physical and sports education is regularly called upon to enact such pedagogical ideas and constitutes because of this a good test for the analysis of where teachers stand in respect to these concepts. Through a content analysis (Bardin, 2003) from 1981 to 2015 of the profession’s main journal – Éducation physique et sport (EP.S) – the paper shows that the journal gives disciplinary intersection greater and greater place and links it to major educational issues. If pluri-discilinarity is presented as enabling overall education, interdisciplinarity would seem to optimise the instruction and the transdisciplinarity of a pupil’s education.
