Sans la Vierge, Richard sans Peur et la femme

Abstract : The presence of the Virgin Mary in the first biographies of Richard I is inconclusive since it concerns her agency in miracles during the Feast of the Conception. This article hopes to show that, beyond the anecdote of the drowned sacristan, these stories renewed conceptions of civilisation and the civil, religious and legal role of women.
